University of Mississippi Names Daktronics for New Integrated System

Daktronics Inc. (Brookings, SD) has announced that the University of Mississippi has chosen the company to design, manufacture and install integrated systems campus-wide.
The C.M. Tad Smith Coliseum, the home of Ole Miss basketball, will upgrade with a centerhung display that features four, LED video displays that measure approximately 7 x 13 ft., with a 10mm pixel layout. Two ring displays, with a 15mm pixel layout, also included in the centerhung structure, will show various graphics, animations and statistics. Overall, the 17 x 24-ft. display will also feature four, dedicated scoring sections. Daktronics will be providing a custom Vortek® 8,000-lb.-capacity hoist system.
In addition, Daktronics will be providing a custom, Sportsound sound system for the arena.
The Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center will receive a tennis scoreboard with an electronic message display, as well as six, single-court tennis scoreboards, while the Gillom Sports Center will receive three, custom, outdoor tennis scoreboards.
The Ole Miss Softball Complex will soon feature a 13 x 23-ft., 23mm, LED video display that will showcase live and recorded video images, animation and graphics.
Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field will be home to a new, 23 x 36-ft., video display that will utilize Daktronics’ newest 15mm LED technology, featuring a tighter resolution and improved image quality. This technology and its control system allow for programming flexibility. The videoboard can operate as a single giant display or be divided into multiple zones (windows) to show statistics, information, graphics, animation, and live and recorded video.
Two, double-faced marquees will be installed at the major intersections on campus and will feature Daktronics video-messaging technology with a 16mm-pixel layout. Students, athletes, faculty and fans will be informed of upcoming events and other on-campus activities.
