Crowd Sources

  • I have had two calls recently from other sign companies with questions on some of the answers that I’ve submitted to the Brain Squad. I really like that addition to the magazine. — Jeffrey Cross, Cross Signs, Seminole, FL

Supply Some Notice

  • Why can suppliers not inform of upcoming materials increases? I understand it’s crazy with aluminum and plastics, but knowing that they will increase their prices on this particular day — why can they not inform us of this increase? Lawd knows, we get plenty of marketing emails every day from these suppliers. — Lisa Havniear, LA Designs, Mabelvale, AR

Matter of Experience

  • I think it would be interesting to get stories about hiring experienced versus inexperienced personnel for each position. The advantages of hiring experienced people is obvious in some positions, but … being able to train someone from the start can also be an advantage. — David Kinney, Kinney Custom Signs, Marina del Rey, CA

Seeking Guidance

  • How do you go about training new employees? — Sheila Roberts, Sign Solutions, Phillipsburg, KS

(Editor’s note: For one vehicle wrap training source, see ST, August 2022.)

Stiff Competition

  • Wondering about how other sign companies handle their new employee non-compete list. Does it really serve you well if it’s overly limiting? And do you actually follow through with legal action if an employee breaks the non-compete? — Michelle Sanders, Walton Signage, San Antonio

Code of Conduct?

  • What should be a sign company’s approach to working with city [planners] in planning sign codes and regulations? — Stephen Russ, Ortwein Sign Co., Chattanooga, TN

Capturing The Moment

  • As the world turns more and more to video, how are you capturing video in your shop or timelapses for installs? What equipment and programs do you use? — Mallory Lynn, Signarama Brighton, Brighton, CO

Loyal Fanbase

  • I love all the features in your magazine. I read it cover to cover every month! — Vicki Kettle, Fastsigns Of Lynnwood, Lynnwood, WA
  • Great job, across the board. Enjoy reading both online and in-print information. — Jeffrey Fusaro, Fastsigns of Pflugerville, Pflugerville, TX
