Due to the uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sign Invitational, a friendly, annual signmaking competition among signmakers, has gone virtual for the second straight year. The contest was previously held at the International Sign Association’s (ISA) International Sign Expo for its first four iterations. This decision was reached by Sign Invitational co-organizers Jim Dawson of Synergy Sign & Graphics (Strasburg, OH) and Dan Sawatzky of Imagination Corp. (Chilliwack, BC, Canada) in consultation with Signs of the Times prior to ISA transitioning its 2021 International Sign Expo to ISA International Sign Expo 2021 – Virtual.

Below, you will see the names of each of the eight entrants (including one couple), images of the entrant’s sign, and a voting portal to cast your vote for your favorite sign. The theme of this year’s Sign Invitational is “go fish.” A preview of this year’s competition, with quotes from each competitor and details of their entries, can be found here.

On April 9 from 1:50-2:40 p.m. EDT, Signs of the Times Editor-in-Chief Mark Kissling will host a general session during the ISA Sign Expo 2021 – Virtual featuring many of the Sign Invitational competitors, who will be able to talk about their projects and also answer your questions. Interested parties must register for ISA Sign Expo 2021 – Virtual in order to view the session.

The voting window closes on April 13. The winner will be announced on signsofthetimes.com shortly thereafter, and will also be highlighted in the May issue of Signs of the Times.

Good luck to all of the entrants, and may the best sign win!
