A High-Altitude Makeover

Cincinnati

Built in 1913, Cincinnati’s 31-story PNC Building looms as an icon over the Queen City. After its namesake company rebranded, the towering structure required new signage. Philadelphia Sign Co. (Palmyra, NJ) fabricated the signage, and Nashville-based Sign Services Group managed the project. They hired High Angle Service (Hartsville, TN) to handle the installation. United-Maier Signs (Cincinnati) installed onsite steel supports and provided certified welders to handle the task.

These photos highlight the logistical hurdles High Angle cleared to install the new signage. As Jim Webster, the company’s general manager, said, “You don’t have to be crazy to do this kind of work, but it sure helps. We take the installation jobs almost nobody else wants. I’m confident that we’ve completed more jobs using a helicopter to install signage than anyone in the U.S.”

Check back in coming months for Webster’s article about what installing this sign hundreds of feet above ground required.
