Avery Dennison Graphics Solutions (Mentor, OH) has sponsored the Design-a-Bus-Wrap student art contest for the fifth year, according to a press release.

Organized by Laketran, the public transit agency in Lake County, OH, the contest was open to the county’s middle and high school students who were encouraged to design a bus wrap showcasing Laketran’s 50th anniversary. The contest received more than 110 entries, with bus wrap material donated by Avery Dennison. The bus was wrapped in Avery Dennison MPI 1105 Easy Apply RS supercast digital film with DOL 1360Z optically clear gloss digital overlaminate. Avery Dennison also donated their MPI 2528 50/50 perforated film for the bus window graphics.

“Avery Dennison is honored to celebrate Laketran’s 50th anniversary, as well as continuing our sponsorship of this program for the fifth consecutive year, marking a truly meaningful milestone,” Amanda Stefanik, Avery Dennison’s senior marketing communications specialist, was quoted in the release. “Year after year, our team takes immense pride in being a part of an initiative that sparks the imagination and creativity of local students. This program not only showcases their artistic talents but also introduces them to industries like graphics and transportation that play a vital role in Lake County. We value the collaboration with local leaders and schools to promote awareness of vinyl graphics among students, art programs and educators.”

A panel of transit employees, graphic art professionals and community leaders served as judges for the contest. Lily Walker, a sophomore at Mentor High School, was this year’s winner for her bus design themed “50 Years Of A Cleaner, Greener Lake County!” Repros Color Inc. (Akron, OH) provided the print production and installation of Walker’s design on the bus, and her design will be displayed on a Laketran Dial-a-Ride bus for a year.

“I was inspired by the monarch butterflies that migrate to our marsh every summer. Their journey represents change and resilience, which felt perfect for celebrating Lake County’s 50 years of being a greener place,” Walker was quoted in the release about her design. “I also included recycling elements to highlight the importance of protecting nature for the future.”
