A developer collaborated with both AMC and the City of Evanston on the design of the new sign.

The sign for Evanston, IL’s Century theater that was recently replaced.

Owners of the AMC Evanston 12 theater in Evanston, IL have recently updated the well-recognized blade sign for the cinema from “CENTURY” to “EVANSTON,” according to a report by local news outlet Evanston Now.

The Century, a downtown movie house on Maple Ave., closed early in 2020 and remained dormant until late 2022. “At that time, a new operator, AMC Theaters, re-opened movie house as AMC Evanston 12, but only with paper signs on the doors,” the report states.

A lighting ceremony is set for Dec. 14.
