Roland High-Speed Engravers
Roland DGA Corp. (Irvine, CA) manufactures two engravers suited for the sign industry. The EGX-600 is 24 x 16 x 1.57 in., while the slightly smaller EGX-400 measures 16 x 12 x 1.57 in. The engravers are compatible with materials up to 40 mils thick; a 72W, AC-servo motor powers each spindle, which operates at speeds up to 30,000 rpm. The company says this high-speed operation creates higher torque and less vibration for 2-D and 3-D engraving jobs.
The engravers don’t need to be connected to a computer, the company reports, and can be used with removable MMC memory cards instead.
An optional ADA signmaking kit includes an EGX engraver and engraving-tool set, Braille and profile cutters, CADlink EngraveLab™ Expert software, Rowmark engravable materials, adhesive sheets, an Accent Signage Inc. Raster® Pen License Kit, and a chip-removal system.
