Digital printers for soft signage

HP (Palo Alto, CA) is adding two new Designjet printers to its products. The 104-in. L28500 model is designed for faster, double-sided banner printing; rolls don’t need to be rewound between sides. The L28500 also supports 60-in. fabric and textile rolls.

In addition, the company has added the Designjet L26500, which is designed for soft signage, including vehicle graphics and banners. Media up to 0.5 mil thick can be used with its bidirectional printing modes. The printhead has six ink colors (CMY, black, light cyan and light magenta) and outputs a 12-pl ink-drop size with 2,112 nozzles per printhead (two colors per printhead).

Both printers are compatible with latex inks, and can be printed on uncoated papers with up to 1,200-dpi resolution, the company states. In vehicle-wrap applications, the inks are designed to be laminated immediately after printing – no drying time is necessary.
