HyVee’s Arrowhead Heat

HyVee, a West Des Moines, IA-based retailer with more than 200 locations in seven states, sponsors the Hot Zone at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium, home of the NFL’s Chiefs. Located in the stadium’s Northwest entry concourse, the Hot Zone features live music that brings a tailgating atmosphere into Arrowhead’s confines.

Dimensional Innovations (Overland Park, KS) fabricated the sign program, which includes a perforated-metal backdrop with internal gas pipes that fuel 12-in.-high, propane-fed flames that heat up live performances; LED strands that provide custom, light-pole displays; and seven, 55-in.-wide, LCD screens. Although perhaps less flamboyant than other program components, vinyl plays a key role in identifying the space. 3M™ Controltac™ repositionable film covers the interior vertical walls of the enormous pole’s spirals, as well as aluminum channel letters, which project from the pole’s corrugated-concrete section.
