Lincoln Electric Welding School Announces 2010 Fourth Quarter Schedule

Classes range from a basic, six-week course to and an advanced, 15-week comprehensive course.

The Lincoln Electric Welding School (Cleveland), an arc-welding school that has instructed more than 120,000 students since its inception in 1917, has announced its schedule for the fourth quarter of 2010. Classes are taught by the school’s seven, full-time instructors.
Classes for the fourth quarter range from a basic, six-week course to an advanced, 15-week, comprehensive course, as well as one-week classes on specific welding processes, certification and customized programs. Students spend 80% of their time in the booth learning to weld. Additionally, Lincoln limits class sizes to 15 students per class.
Courses scheduled for October through December 2010 include:
Introduction to Welding: An introduction to all common welding processes. This one-week course runs the week of October 18.
Comprehensive Program: Arc-welding safety and all of the common welding processes. The course lasts 15 weeks and involves more than 540 hours of hands-on instruction. October 25 – March 11. 2011.
Welding Certification Prep Course: Prepares for the American Welding Society’s (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) seminar and examination. This one-week class is offered during the week of October 11.
AWS CWI Seminar and Exam: Lincoln Electric is a host site for the AWS CWI seminar and examination. The seminar, taught by an AWS instructor, covers how to reference AWS code, examine welds and prepare for the CWI exam on that following Saturday (proctored by AWS). These courses are offered October 1-23.
Basic Plate & Sheet Metal: The stick-welding process. The six-week class is being offered the weeks of October 25-December 3.
Pipe Welding: Stick welding process of welding pipe either to meet American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) (vertical-up) or American Petroleum Institute (API) (vertical-down) welding code. This course will be offered during the weeks of October 25-December 3.
Plasma, Oxyfuel, Alloy & Hardening: Plasma cutting and arc gouging, the oxyfuel process, alloy theory and applications, and hardfacing. October 25-November 12.
Gas Tungsten Arc Welding: The TIG-welding process. The week-long classes are offered October 4, November, 15, December 6 and December. 13.
Gas Metal Arc Welding/Semi Automatic: The MIG-welding process. One-week course are taught the weeks of October 11, November 1, November 22, December 6 and December 13.
Flux-Cored Arc Welding/Semi Automatic: The flux-cored welding process for both self-shielded and gas-shielded. One-week classes run the weeks of October 18 and November 29.
