Mimaki’s UV-cure, tabletop, flatbed printer

Published

on

Mimaki describes its UJF-3042, LED-lamped, UV-cure printer as a tabletop device, but purchase one and your cat must find another place to sleep. The print machine will fit onto a full-size office table, but there’s no room left for your lunch, much less a sleeping cat.
The 265-lb., UJF-3042 tabletop printer measures 47.2 in. wide, 38.2 in. deep and 30.3 in. high.
Like the Grand Canyon, it’s bigger than you might first envision.
More importantly, this innovative machine could become your new, specialty-printing, profit center. Mimaki said it would create custom posters, cards, gifts, pens, pencils, gift boxes, USB sticks and much more.
It prints 11.8 x 16.5-in. images on a 14.3 x 18.2-in., vacuum-feed platen. The cool-operating, LED-based, UV-cure lamps allow you to print on heat-sensitive media. They also reduce energy use, compared to standard-lamped, UV-cure ink systems.
The UJF-3042 prints 720 x 600 or 1,440 x 1,200 dpi in CMYK, plus white ink. You can also apply a glossy, overcoat ink for full or spot finishing. To position and decorate specialty items, the platen will house substrates or a jig up to 1.97 in. thick.
