Plasma Metal Cutter

Hypertherm Inc. (Hanover, NH) is releasing its HyPerformance™ Plasma metal-cutting system. The mechanized, metal-cutting system incorporates the company’s HyDefinition, HySpeed^® and LongLife® technologies. The cutting system provides flexibility with up to 38mm, mild-steel edge-start cutting. Production-pierce capability is 16mm with a maximum pierce of 25mm. Marking and cutting are performed with the same consumables.

The company also is introducing its Flow Accelerated Screen Technology (FAST) Laser for laser cutting. The laser’s patent-pending design creates a dual-flow zone that allows oxygen-assist gas pressures in the defined cut zone established by beam geometry. The high-velocity oxygen flow along the beam path increases cut speed by fueling the exothermic reaction. It also reduces sensitivity to common, plate-fabricating conditions and variables, the company reports. The product is offered in 71/2-, 10- and 121/2-in. focal length options.
