Roland’s VersaCAMM VS-640

Published

on

Roland DGA Corporation (Irvine, CA) has announced its 64-in.-wide VersaCAMM VS-640 printer/cutter that s available in three configurations that provide genuine metallic ink (Eco-Sol Max metallic ink, for pure metallic and pearlescent colors), white ink and advanced ink-handling technology. Designed for professional graphics producers and sign and display makers, the printer is also available in dual CMYK (for quality output at high production speeds) or as a Hi-Fi color printer with light cyan and light magenta, plus white ink. Roland said users may freely combine silver, process color and white to effortlessly create numerous special effects (see page 14).
The VS-640 includes the same ink recirculation system as in Roland’s SolJet Pro III XC-540MT, which prevents the pigment in metallic and white ink from settling.
The system ships with Roland’s VersaWorks RIP software and the Roland OnSupport, a diagnostic support package. The Roland Metallic Color library in VersaWorks features metallic colors that print using CMYK+MT in a single pass.
Roland DGA Corporation has also expanded its R-Wear line of custom apparel solutions with HeatSoft, which combines new ESM-HTM2 heat-transfer media with PGM-PTM polyester-transfer mask to deliver vibrant color, fine details and superior bonding with cotton and cotton-blend garments. The cost-effective HTM solution, which has been developed specifically for Roland’s ECO-SOL MAX ink, is supported by Roland VersaCAMM, VersaArt and SOLJET eco-solvent inkjets.
The 1.7-mil, inkjet-coated, synthetic, fabric-transfer material is suitable for high-resolution, full-color printing with excellent opacity and white-point characteristics.
The HeatSoft solution also includes a 3-mil, polyester transfer mask with a specially formulated, heat-resistant adhesive. Rigid construction allows the new transfer mask to handle large graphics without any distortion.
