SGIA’s 2010 Expo Breaks Attendance Records

The 2010 SGIA Expo’s (Las Vegas, October 13-15) recordbreaking attendance – 21,956 persons – signaled renewed enthusiasm in the specialty-imaging industry. The busy, 184,060-sq.-ft. tradeshow floor — an increase of 30,000 sq. ft. over last year — housed 487 company displays that offered new or updated products to print, image and signmakers. Additionally, this year’s show featured first-ever, pre-expo, business-development conferences which included industry experts, professional speakers, innovative strategies and expert advice zones, as well as industry networking events.

Visitors could also visit SGIA’s electronic, digital-signage zone that was presented in conjunction with the Digital Screenmedia Assn. (DSA). The zone provided an educational opportunity — presentations and guided explanations — so participants could see the technology needed to manage and display dynamic content on flat-screen systems.

Attendee details
SGIA reported 39.8% of the attendees as first-time visitors. It also said 82.5% (of the total registrants) were from the United States (California 27.78%, Nevada 8.28%, Texas 5.08%, Illinois 4.42% and Arizona 4.04% ). Canada’s attendee count equaled 5.3%, and the international count came to 17.5%.

Awards
The organization also announced Michel Caza, Michel Caza Erul (France) as the 2010 Parmele Award Winner; Solutions Unlimited, High Shine received the Golden Image Best of Show – Graphic; and Tarun Print Tech, Michael Jackson, as the Golden Image Best of Show – Garment, winner.

Brilliant Graphics Group’s Eric Drury Sculpture received the SGIA People s Choice Golden Image Award.

Sponsors
The event’s Platinum Sponsors were AGFA Graphics, Durst Image Technology U.S. LLC , EFI , and Hewlett Packard Co. The Gold Sponsors were INX Digital International Co. and Roland DGA Corporation

Next year
The 2011 SGIA Expo will be held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center (New Orleans) on October 19-21.
