Roland DGA Corporation (Irvine, CA) has released the 30-in. VersaUV LEC-300, which is, according to the company, the world’s first UV inkjet printer/cutter. The environmentally friendly machine features low-heat LED lamps that can be turned on and off instantly and are ready to use immediately after the printer is turned on. It prints CMYK, white and clearcoat on various substrates, including synthetic and natural leathers and window coverings. The clearcoat can be layered for dimensional effects or Braille. The VersaUV LEC-300 comes with VersaWorks 3.0 RIP software and can print up to 1,440 dpi. It also contour cuts and acts as a pre-press and proofing device.
