MAY 1-9

SEASONAL Sandra Jones, Image National Signs (Nampa, ID), will reach out to existing clients to schedule mid-year signage inspections. “Warmer months are ideal for checking illumination, electrical components and cabinet integrity before weather exposure or outages impact brand visibility,” she says.

MAY 10-16

HIRING Adding two more team members makes the list for Alan Hubbard, Pro Image Design (Traverse City, MI). “One down, two to go,” he adds.

HIRING, PART DEUX Create a five-minute onboarding video. Show your workspace, introduce the team and explain what makes your sign company different.

MAY 17-23

SALES “Contractors and service companies often wrap or letter new vehicles in late spring,” according to Dennis Schaub, FastTrack Signs (Bellefontaine, OH). Tasks: Schedule fleet vehicle graphics installs, design approvals and proof cycles, batch-printing and laminating wrap panels, and coordinating installation schedules. Erin Rosado, His & Her Studio (Loxahatchee, FL), will also be promoting fleet wraps, as well as any updates/wall murals/repairs at local schools for the upcoming year.

RELOCATING Ian McLellan, Hill House Graphics (Bristol, RI), will have moved into a new space for operations by May 1, “so getting that up and running will be a month-long process at least, including letting everyone know that we have moved,” he says.

MAY 24-31

MANAGEMENT Continuous Improvement Strategies (CIS): “Have them, in plan form. Update plan one time a week for any work done. Thoughts included. Small bites of the elephant…” says Adam Brown, Sign Effectz (Milwaukee).” If it’s not planned, it’s not on your radar. If it’s not on your radar, it will never get done.”

“Signs are art! If you’re reading this you know that. The American Sign Museum opened its exhibit ‘Back to the Drawing Board: The Art of the Sign Sketch’ [March 12], showcasing the art behind the signs. Here is one of a few of the amazing photos of the sketches that became signs.” Jeff Russ, SOT Facebook Curator
