Christie Launches MicroTiles

Modular technology allows unlimited display configurations.

Christie Systems USA Inc. (Cypress, CA), a visual-solutions provider for architectural installations, OOH advertising, event centers, command-and-control facilities and retail environments, and a wholly owned subsidiary of USHIO Inc., is premiering MicroTiles, modular, digital-display tiles that can be stacked and clustered like building blocks to create display walls of any shape or scale. The tiles “recognize” each other when they’re re-configured and adjust the image automatically.
The LED- and DLP-based technology creates a virtually seamless digital canvas in public areas, with no lamps or other consumable parts to replace. The LED light engine is rated at 65,000 hours to half-brightness usage, or nearly 7.5 years of continuous operation.
The 16 (408mm) x 12 in. (306mm) screen features a shallow, 10-in. (260mm) depth and requires only a 2-in. (50mm) clearance for rear ventilation. The “self-aware” tiles, which are serviced from the front, automatically calibrate color to maintain a uniform appearance.
