FLEXcon (Spencer, MA), a manufacturer of pressure-sensitive films and adhesives, today (February 1) announced its agreement to acquire the business assets of the Graphics Div. of Arlon, Inc. (Santa Ana, CA) to form a company to be named Arlon Graphics, LLC, a new wholly owned subsidiary of FLEXcon. When the acquisition is complete, FLEXcon will have the option to purchase Arlon Engineered Coated Products and Arlon SignTech Ltd. (San Antonio), following necessary due diligence.

Contacted February 2, FLEXcon COO Mike Engel said this is FLEXcon’s first acquisition since the company was founded in 1956. He also stated that FLEXcon primarily sells direct. In contrast, Arlon’s website lists 68 U.S. distributors. It has distribution centers on six continents, with sales in more than 50 countries.

Engel also said that Arlon products will benefit from FLEXcon’s R&D resources, especially with regard to adhesives.

Founded in 1958, the Graphics Div. of Arlon, Inc. is a manufacturer of a full line of pressure-sensitive cast vinyl, flexible substrates, and print-media films for digital imaging, signage, vehicle graphics and screenprinting.

FLEXcon, a family-owned, privately held business, has 1,200 employees throughout North America and Europe. The company is active in coating, laminating and finishing of wide-web, roll-to-roll polymeric materials, with experience in graphics and label applications, as well as bonding, barrier, optical and electronics applications.

More information can be found on the companies’ websites, www.FLEXcon.com and www.arlon.com.
