Hot Dogs and Nonprofits Head July-August’s Calendar

JULY

11 On JULY 11, we celebrate National 7-Eleven Day. Get it? Originally a Texas ice company, it was prompted by refrigeration to start selling milk, bread and eggs to customers buying ice. Later, the “convenience” of buying these items extended to hours well before and after 9-to-5.

18 National Hot Dog Day is JULY 18, also a Saturday, so have your company grill out a day or so earlier. These days, we have handcrafted, locally sourced hot dogs to go along with Oscar Mayer Wieners. If you’re holding an eating contest, stick with the wieners. Craft dogs are pricey!

AUGUST

13 If you were born on AUGUST 13, you share it with Alfred Hitchcock’s Birthday. Legendary director and “Master of Suspense,” the British-born Hitchcock (1899-1980) appeared in each of his films, which include Psycho, North by Northwest and many more.

17 National Nonprofit Day on AUGUST 17 recognizes the goals and positive impacts nonprofits have on local communities and the world. If you or your company sponsors a local NPO, consider donating temporary signage or other means to promote their good works.
