Joe Philport to Retire as TAB CEO

Spearheaded new measurement capabilities

Published

on

The Traffic Audit Bureau for Media Measurement, Inc. (TAB), NYC, has announced that CEO Joe Philport will retire at the end of 2014. He joined the organization in 2002.
When Philport joined TAB, the industry still relied on counts of people passing billboards to conduct business. Recognizing industry demand for greater accountability and more accurate measurement, TAB, led by Philport, developed TAB Out of Home Ratings, which measures audiences who actually see advertising. In 2009, in recognition of this advancement, the Advertising Research Foundation awarded Philport its Great Mind Award for Innovation. The system has since incorporated ratings for transit media and digital billboards.
The TAB Board of Directors will strategically review of the out-of-home industry’s changing needs in a new media landscape. A consulting firm, Sequent Partners, will help facilitate this review and work closely with a TAB Leaders Task Force. In the interim, Nancy Fletcher, president and CEO of the Outdoor Adv. Assn. of America (OAAA), will serve as Interim CEO of TAB, while Philport will serve as a consultant to the TAB Board.
