Just one day after revealing the logo for London’s 2012 summer Olympic games, the design team is facing a storm of criticism. According to the BBC, and online petition calling for a redesign has garnered thousands of signatures.

The logo also has fans, and the London games’ official website (main.london2012.com/en) says logo is meant to represent that this will be “everyone’s games.”

The jagged logo, available in pink, blue, green and orange, is actually the numerals “2012.” Brand consultants Wolff Ollins created the logo after eight months of testing with focus groups.

The BBC’s website is posting alternative submissions from the public; more than 20 are currently on display.
