Sign Research Foundation Names New Leadership

The Sign Research Foundation (SRF; Alexandria, VA) has expanded its board of trustees and named a new executive committee, according to a press release. The SRF board sets direction for the organization, which focuses on educating city officials, business owners and architects on effective design and regulation.

“The strength of the Sign Research Foundation lies in bringing together perspectives from across our industry and the communities we serve,” Sapna Budev, SRF executive director, is quoted in the press release. “This board brings deep expertise in design, planning and business, which will help advance research that empowers city officials, architects and business owners to make informed decisions about signage and the built environment.”

Stacey Brown, owner of Signarama Silver Spring (MD) and Signarama DC North (Washington), will lead the board as chair. Elizabeth (Liz) Griswold, project manager at Ashton Design (Baltimore), serves as secretary/treasurer, while Sarah Wexler, managing director at JLL Design (Chicago), is past chair.

The board also has added three new members:

Thais Bohli, is a licensed architect and director of architecture and design at Denny’s, where she leads design strategy and oversees restaurant development across multiple national brands.

Leonard (Leo) A. Mantey, senior deputy director with the City of Richmond (VA), is a municipal planning and development professional with extensive experience in zoning, development review and land use regulation.

Thomas (Tom) Quackenbush, on-premise market manager, Daktronics Inc. (Brookings, SD), has nearly 20 years of experience across engineering, manufacturing and operations in the sign industry.

They join board members Manish (MJ) Jaisinghani, director at AGI (Virginia Beach, VA), and Brenda Velázquez, CEO of Future Sign Co. (Houston) who will continue to help direct SRF’s work.
