Sign World Changes 2014 Event to October

Not in December for first time since 1992

The United States Sign Council (USSC) has announced that its 2014 Sign World tradeshow will be held October 9-11 at the Atlantic City Convention Center. This will be the first time the show hasn’t been held the first weekend in December since 1992.

In 1991, when USSC was called the Eastern States Sign Council (and still one of the eight regions in the then National Electric Sign Assn.), it held a Sign World East show at the Taj Mahal Casino (also in Atlantic City) on November 14-16, in conjunction with NESA. But in 1993, the Sign World show was held December 1-4 in Atlantic City.

USSC Executive Director Nancy Maren said the change (which occurred following the most recent Sign World show, held December 4-7 at the Atlantic City Convention Center) was made "because many exhibitors have been asking us to change to a date prior to Thanksgiving." She added that, after the 1991 show, the Taj Mahal added more gaming area, at the expense of tradeshow space, which necessitated the show’s move. December was the only available alternative, and the move lasted for 20 years.
