Times Square, Buckeye Style

A signage revolution at Broad and High.

Daktronics (Brookings, SD) has unveiled a mass of digital signage at the rapidly developing Broad and High Sts. intersection in Columbus, OH. The new installation features full-color LED screens, scrolling video tickers and billboards. Developers, including Columbus-based Casto, intend to create a Times Square-like atmosphere.

The curved sign reflect the mixed-use development’s architecture, said Casto partner Bill Riat. The signs will feature a mix of news and stock tickers that wrap around the buildings, and video screens will display animated advertisements. Only eight advertising slots are available; Huntington Bank, Nationwide and local affiliate NBC 4 have already signed on.

One display will be used exclusively for free advertising for nonprofits and other community organizations.
