The International Sign Assn. (ISA) called its 2009 International Sign Expo “a resounding success.” ISA counted participants from 92 countries and nearly 18,000 attendees at Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. At the show’s inaugural New Product Showcase, more than 200 attendees who voted on the “Coolest New Product” chose Tred Displays’ (Albuquerque, NM) iN-Series Reflective Digital Display Panels.

Tred manufactures low-cost, reflective, bi-stable ‘green tech’ displays that use minimal power and don’t contribute to light pollution. The iN47 four-numeral display is designed for indoor, numeric signs. The panel, a reflective, acrylic white board, comes with a built-in tredLINK wireless transceiver; it’s powered by an 8-AA battery pack. Applications include POP pricing, lottery jackpots, interest rates, and time and temperature.

Clients supply the printed graphics and control the numerals. The stable Tred pixels don’t require power to sustain an image. To change a pixel, a short magnetic pulse activates proprietary, magnetic, composite fibers, called MOEs.
