USSC’s Latest Research Impacts 2010 APA Conference

Published

on

The United States Sign Council (USSC) distributed free CDs of its 2010 Sign Illumination Guide, titled “On-Premise Sign Lighting: Terms, Definitions, Measurement,” and copies of four current USSC lighting-research reports at the American Planning Assn.’s (APA) National Conference, April 9-13, in New Orleans.
USSC had created the lighting guide in response to communities’ interest in regulating sign illumination. The publication clarifies lighting terms and sign-lighting measurement.
The APA Conference provided an opportunity for USSC to speak individually with planners and to facilitate dialogues with the planning community on issues that impact the sign industry.
In addition, USSC shared light meters with APA attendees to show how sign illumination can be measured in the field.
Attending the conference and representing USSC were: Nancy Maren, USSC executive director; Perry Cook, USSC president; Paul Tripp, USSC board member; Phil Garvey, Larson Transportation Institute at Penn State University; and Richard Crawford, USSC legislative consultant.
