In 2020 Mallory became a mom for the first time, so she’s had to find new methods to keep her work life and home life balanced. “I started working remotely in 2020 as well, three days a week for 10 hour days, making it very easy for the lines to blur even further,” she says. “With little ones, there’s a short window between 5 and 8 p.m. to spend time with them before bedtime, so it’s important to me to turn off work at 5 p.m.” Time spent outdoors also really helps Mallory clear her head and feel regulated. Weather permitting, she goes on family walks after work, or during lunch she’s on her patio overlooking her garden. Set routines also help Mallory keep the balance: Sunday (plan meals for the week), Monday (grocery shopping and chores around the house), Tuesday (fun day for activities), and Wednesday through Friday (easy meals and lots of coffee to hit work hard).
