GoVision Displays Helps Anti-Abuse Rally Spread Message

Large video screens convey testimonials to thousands of attendees

Spouse and partner abuse has long been a serious problem (and exacerbated by many families facing economic challenges). According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, more than one million American women are victims of domestic abuse annually, and the resulting medical and mental health care required costs more than $4 billion per year.

Womens’ groups have long provided support services for abuse victims, but men have often neglected their responsibility in teaching boys not to be abusers. Dallas Men Against Abuse countered past inaction by gathering thousands of men in their city’s downtown to stage a rally to raise domestic-violence awareness.
To further engage the thousands who attended the rally outside Dallas City Hall, event leaders contracted GoVision LP (Dallas) to construct and install two, 9 x 16-ft. GoBig mobile LED displays. During the program, the 16mm-pixel-pitch, 384 x 216-pixel-pitch-resolution displays featured testimonials from Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings, former Cowboy greats Emmitt Smith and Roger Staubach, religious broadcaster T.D. Jakes and other local celebrities.

It also provided a tweet-to-screen field that allowed the approximately 6,000 attendees to broadcast their thoughts in real time.

“We were pleased to see thousands of strong men show up to proclaim that domestic abuse shouldn’t be tolerated,” Chris Curtis, GoVision’s president, said. “We’re proud to have done our part to make sure that rally attendees had a great view of the proceedings.”
