Inwindow Outdoor Morphs Shoppers into Na’vis

Inwindow Outdoor (NYC), the originator of digital-storefront and mall advertising, has marked the Blu-ray relase of Avatar with a digital exhibit that morphs shoppers’ faces into Na’vis. The 60 x 10-ft., freestanding, digital showcase comprises multiple, digital screens that uses customized technology that retains users’ facial characteristics.
“It goes well beyond augmented reality in that it isn’t simply superimposing imagery, it’s actually altering the underlying content in real time,” said Jeff Cohen, Inwindow Outdoor managing partner.

The Avatar display structure features three ‘morphing stations’ and one, large-scale, video wall that’s surrounded by vinyl and branded in Avatar themes. As shoppers approach the screens, Inwindow’s technology captures their image and transforms them into Na’vis. Once the morph is complete, users can enter their email address, via a touchscreen, to send a video of their transformation, along with information on where to purchase the Blu-ray disc.

The display, created in conjunction with Fox Studios and Zenith Media, will launch at the Grove on Friday, April 16, and run for a month.
