FEB. 1-8

TRADESHOWS Keith Davis, KRD Design (Chester Springs, PA), will be preparing/finalizing his presentation for the International Sign Expo to be held in Las Vegas, April 23-25. This always involves a big push in February, he says. Meanwhile, Joe Gibson, Ramsay Signs (Portland, OR), will begin prioritizing capital expenditures for 2025 possible “show specials” at the ISA Expo.

ORGANIZING Dave Hostios, Trav-Ad Signs (Huntsville, AL), plans some “pre-spring cleaning” as does Jasper Burton, Cuerden Sign Co. (Conway, AR). “Must clean my office!” says Mary Hester, Dragon Prints (Roxboro, NC). “Must order more supplies and keep them on hand [and] need to find more storage space,” she adds.

FEB. 9-15

SOCIAL MEDIA “We’ve been talking with a social media guru,” reports John Miller, Signs by Autografix (Branford, CT). “We’ll give that a try.” Louise Jackson, Signs of Art Graphic Design (Philadelphia) will seek more exposure and business by posting on Facebook, Instagram and Google Business. And Mark Marshall, Bakers’ Signs & Manufacturing (Conroe, TX), has a social media campaign for LED lighting in signs on the docket.

FEB. 16-22

MARKETING “Have got to get serious about mailing to a small but focused business list,” says Rita Siprak-Weill, Minuteman Press Annapolis (Annapolis, MD). “And do it consistently. Why is being consistent so hard?” she laments. Across the country, Pat Dacy, 3V Signs & Graphics (Torrance, CA), will send an e-blast to all clients in his database who have purchased in the last 24 months.

RECRUITING Doug Bray, Alpine Sign & Lighting (Dallastown, PA), has this on his list: “Work on finding good people.” Andrew Akers, Image360 DC-Silver Spring (Kensington, MD), wants to hire additional sales support.

FEB. 23-MAR. 1

EXPANSION “We are in the beginning stages of looking for a design/social media firm to acquire,” says Jim Sutterfield, Signs Plus Inc. (Bellingham, WA). Not far away, Jeff Thomas, Crossroad Sign (Lynnwood, WA), will evaluate a possible new division, but will “start/end all research/evaluation in five biz days (instead of pushing it downstream due to client activity).”

Now You Know: This architectural model, designed by Eero Saarinen in 1960 for TWA’s Flight Center, originally included a TWA logo sign attached to the front entrance canopy.
