City considers allowing electronic, digital billboards.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer stopped a city commission from voting on changes to the city’s sign ordinance that would allow electronic, digital billboards according to WFTV. The mayor wants city officials to ensure that the character of downtown Orlando will be preserved if this type of signage is allowed. He is also asking that signage be limited on-site advertising or announcements. The city is considering only permitting large billboards (2,400 sq. ft.) on the outskirts of downtown, and limiting city-center, digital billboards to between 400 and 1,600 sq. ft. City Commissioner Phil Diamond objected to this specification, stating that the ordinance should be applied uniformly across all parts of the city.
