Plaskolite Inc. (Columbus, OH) has purchased the coating division of Optiglass PC LLC (Cincinnati). Plaskolite President James Dunn said the purchase reasserts the company’s commitment to the coating market following the coating-plant expansion at its Columbus, OH facility.
Mitchell Grindley, Plaskolite’s VP of sales and marketing, said the addition allows the company to offer more products at competitive prices.
Richard Filiault, a former GE Plastics executive, launched Optiglass last year after having bought Si Kote Technologies Inc., a Cincinnati-based sheet-coating business that had been in operation for almost 20 years.
In 2007, Plaskolite had acquired the continuously processed sheet division of Lucite Intl. Inc., its largest recent purchase preceding the Optiglass deal. Founded by the Dunn family in 1950, in Columbus, Plaskolite is the largest, privately owned, U.S. manufacturer of continuously processed acrylic sheet. Plaskolite has manufacturing facilities in Columbus and Zanesville, OH; Grand Saline, TX; Olive Branch, MS; Compton, CA; and Monterrey, Mexico.
