Roland DGA Corp. (Irvine, CA) has announced important updates to its Roland DG Connect Designer and VersaWorks 7 software that increase functionality, ease of use and convenience for end users, according to a press release.

Roland DG Connect Designer, the creative software within the company’s broader cloud-based Roland DG Connect platform, has been expanded with a new Visual Communication Module and other helpful tools, while VersaWorks 7, Roland DG’s RIP software, benefits from newly added “remote printing” and “backup/workflow management” features.

The Connect Designer software was first introduced in June to make design and production more accessible for users of all levels. Its new Visual Communication Mode offers advanced tools that simplify file preparation, including image vectorization, which automatically segments images by color based on tolerance values, making it easy to select and process specific color groups in bulk. Its Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) feature allows users to easily adjust shapes, colors and patterns on the layers displaying lines and filled areas, useful for producing customized signage, apparel and stickers. Other updates include perforated cutting features and background removal with a single click.

VersaWorks 7 is a raster image process (RIP) software designed to make more professional-quality printing simple, reliable and efficient. Its new VersaWorks Remote feature enables users to send jobs to the program from anywhere with an Internet connection, while its Backup feature automatically saves job settings and output data to the cloud. An extra job queue expands the number of jobs that can be queued from five to 20, allowing users to register multiple job conditions simultaneously by media type, client or application. With the update, VersaWorks 7 now supports up to eight registered Roland DG printers from the previous four.

“Roland DG has always aimed to simplify complex workflows and make professional printing accessible to everyone,” Ryugo Nimura, Roland DG’s president of global sales and marketing, is quoted in the release. “With these new add-ons, we are responding directly to the way our customers work today.”
