White Castle’s new “Castle of Tomorrow” prototype goes by “Night Castle” by night.

White Castle (Columbus, OH), America’s first fast-food hamburger chain, is ushering in a new era of restaurant design with the debut of its “Castle of Tomorrow” in Columbus. The prototype represents the next evolution of the brand’s 104-year commitment to innovation, hospitality and quality, according to a press release.

Among the many changes that include a redesigned dining room and a robotic fry station assistant, the “Castle of Tomorrow” features a first-of-its-kind brand sign that reads “White Castle” by day and transforms to “Night Castle” after dark — a bold expression of the company’s renowned late-night identity and its mission to serve Cravers around the clock, according to the release.

“The ‘Castle of Tomorrow’ celebrates both where we’ve been and where we’re going,” Jamie Richardson, vice president of White Castle, is quoted in the press release. “It’s a place that honors our century-old promise to bring people together over hot, tasty Sliders while introducing new technologies and experiences that keep White Castle as relevant and craveable as ever.”
