Digital View (Morgan Hill, CA), is introducing ActivPrint™, a technology that turns static advertising into animated displays. ActivPrint uses programmable e-paper technology and animation to create a high-resolution, flexible advertising display in various shapes, with up to 10 animation steps. It can be used on shelves or integrated into any type of advertising, and operates up to a year on two, AA batteries.

ActivPrint uses black (negatively charged) and white (positively charged) pigment microcapsules. When an electric current runs through it, positive or negative current can control which color microcapsules are brought to the surface. This “turns on” positively charged white microcapsules, which makes the image visible; the black, negatively charged microcapsules make the image invisible, in effect, “hiding” it.
