6, the first Sunday in August, National Friendship Day, encourages people across the country and world to connect with friends. Dating to 1919, waning interest was rejuvenated in 1998 by Winnie the Pooh, new World Ambassador of Friendship at the UN.

10 National S’mores Day on AUGUST 10 celebrates the essential campfire treat. These nearly century-old snacks sandwich a roasted marshmallow and chocolate between two pieces of graham cracker. Try making some at the office or shop!

27 is World Rock Paper Scissors Day. Thought to have originated with the 2,000-year-old Chinese Han Dynasty, not until the 1920’s did the game make its way to Great Britain. A 1932 article in The New York Times introduced Americans to its rules.
