Yuan Tai Technologies Inc. (Hsinchi, Taiwan) has changed the international version of its name from Prime View Intl. (PVI) to E Ink Holdings Inc. (E Ink). This change, which was approved at the annual general meeting, reaffirms Yuan Tai Technologies’ commitment to ePaper, an industry that it has pioneered for more than a decade.
E Ink Holdings will offer its epaper products under the brand name E Ink and its LCD products under the brand name Hydis. With more than 20 million electronic paper displays in the field, the company’s E Ink-branded ePaper displays are used in applications such as ebooks, enewspapers, etextbooks, wristwatches, smart cards, shelf labels, battery/memory indicators, mobile phones, public-information and promotional igns.
E Ink’s Hydis-branded Fringe Field Switching (FFS) technology, a wide view LCD, is suitable for applications such as televisions, mobile phones, gaming devices, tablet PCs, GPS and navigation systems.
“The E Ink name is synonymous with the ePaper industry that we pioneered and in which we enjoy a leadership position,” said Dr. Scott Liu, chairman and CEO of E Ink Holdings. “We are now a globally recognized brand name and aim to have our displays on every smart surface.”
E Ink is continuing to make major investments in research, development and capacity expansion to support the growing demand for its LCD and ePaper products.
Founded in 1992 by Taiwan’s leading papermaking and printing group YFY, E Ink Holdings Inc. is the pioneer TFT and epaper business in Taiwan. In 2008, it acquired Hydis Technologies, manufacturer of wide viewing angle LCDs, and, in 2009, E Ink Corp., the worldwide leader in epaper.
